Fourth Edition CIES/NMMU Students another step closer...

The FIFA/CIES/NMMU students took another step towards completing their qualification as the final block week of lectures took place from 27 June to 2 July in the now all too familiar Seminar Room of the 2nd Ave Campus of NMMU.

In this week the students completed the finance module, which included the dreaded finance EXAM, as well as the event management module.

Three guest speakers were in attendance during the week. Dave Emslie, CEO of Eastern Province Cricket and the Warriors franchise, gave the students a hands-on practical lecture on event planning and implementation. In visiting the Nelson Mandela Bay multi-purpose stadium for a guided tour, Rob Hichens (stadium manager) and Louan Geel (turf manager) gave the students a wonderful in-depth insight of what it takes to run a facility of the stature of the NMB stadium.

On a sad note a final goodbye was said to Antoniu Geormaneanu, our friend and fellow student from Europe. Antoniu has travelled from Austria for each of the block weeks of lectures and will unfortunately not be in a position to travel back to South Africa for the graduation ceremony in October. We wish Antoniu well in his future endeavours and are proud to have had him as a NMMU student and soon to be alumnus.

The certification ceremony for the 2010 4th edition students will take place on 3 October 2011.
